Bislig is a pretty little city east of Surigao del Sur , which is around 220 Km. from Davao City. Among the industries that the city can boast is fresh seafood. Though bislig is relatively small in size , the city has been sited on recent years as a travel destination for two note worthy creations of mother nature , which I was fortunate to visit a year ago.
The Hinatuan River

Hinatuan River , 20 km. from Bislig, was once a mysterious edge of the town that locals believe to be enchanted. But on recent years, the river has fast became a tourist spot , that people flock to this place to experience its clear blue water and mysterious depth , still undocumented till this day. The river water is so clear that the fishes visibly swim around.
During my visit, I was not able to appreciate the river that much because it was a public holiday and trucks of locals were congesting much of the area. Some even brought karaoke , that greatly took over the solemnity of the place.
Nonetheless, I still recommend this spot as noteworthy , and perhaps a visit on an early weekday morning would be better, as the water shall most likely be calm and undisturbed. The beauty of this place is undeniable.
Tinuy-an Falls
This stunning body of water is known as the Niagara Falls of the Philippines. It is a three levelled waterfall around 100 meters wide , with the tallest level around the height of a 6 storey building . This falls is not much discussed on Philippine history books since it is located at a remote province. All the more that it made the place interesting. It is also known to locals that during rainy season, a rainbow usually appears on the fall’s atmosphere almost every morning.
Travelling to Bislig is no sweat, as Davao – Surigao Bus lines have routes to this province for around 350 pesos (8 USD) , 3-4 hours travel. Chartered Vans are available for day tours at round 5000 pesos ++ ( 1200 USD) per day , which sits 18 heads max.
Vans going to Mangagoy (Bislig City) are also available at Gaisano Mall, P300 + ( 8 USD)

Coming from Southeast Asia, Kolkata is probably one of the cheapest way to enter India. Thanks to Airasia, I only got my promo ticket for around 2,200 pesos ( 45 usd) from Kuala Lumpur.
Kolkata is located on the east banks of Indian Subcontinent, and is a state once the center of British Colonialism in East India . Colonial architecture and influences are still evident in almost every corner of the City. And I have seen more Catholic Christians here, than elsewhere In India.
Kolkata may not be as ancient and as rich in architecture and history compared to central India; But here , is where I’ve seen a picture of poverty and the effects of over population; The India , that is beyond the manicured Gardens and the Glitz of what Bollywood. My Stay in Kolkata was short, but indeed it was an experience.

It was Spring when I visited Nepal , which was between March/April when the wind from the Himalayas gently cool Kathmandu valley and the rest of the mountainous country. Temperature is soothing at around 18 degrees C during daytime. Locals say it was the perfect time to visit the country , as it sometimes get uncomfortably warm in summer , and too cold during winter. ( Although it doesn’t snow in Kathmandu Valley ).
For those with limited time in Nepal , here are the recommended Visits to world heritage sites that should never be missed. These recommended places are just within Kathmandu, thus, visiting these four places can be fit in a day.
Allot some budget for Taxi or rickshaws , since the buses within Kathmandu City can be quite in chaos. ( However, buses going to other cities are OK )
Visit Swayambounath Temple on early Morning to observe buddhist prayers – Swayambounath ( The Monkey Temple , also known as Harati Devi Temple ) is a Buddhist Temple that sits on top of a hill ,with an overlooking view of Kathmandu City. It is ideal to visit Swayambounath temple early in the morning around 6 am to observe and even participate with buddhist locals chanting personal prayers while circumambulating around the stupa.
Swayambounath is just 15-20 minute taxi ride from Thamel , for 100 – 200 NPR ( 2 usd ) . Some tourist just walk it up from Thamel , for maybe around 30-45 minutes. Meanwhile, me and a friend hopped on a rickshaw for 100 NPR, thinking that taxis would be to expensive. But apparently, rickshaws cannot go up the rolling terrain on the way to the temple , as such, we were just dropped off somewhere near and had to walk up for another 15 minutes. But it was a leisure walk as you get to pass by houses and a local school. =)
Entry fee is at 200 NPR (2 USD)

Always keep an eye on your pouch as there are a lot of monkeys on the way up this hill, eager to grab any loose thing you carry. lol

Pashupatinath Temple should not be missed . But do note that this place is not for the faint hearted. Pashupatinath is a Hindu Temple where Traditional Public Cremations are done. The temple stands on a river bank where the dead is cremated , and the ashes hurled onto the water. The river, known to locals as the Bagmati, flows down and onto the holy Ganges river of India , where this Hindu Tradition originates.
Visit Pashupatinath Temple with an open mind, as you will definitely see cadavers here and smell burning flesh.
Entry fee = 1000 NPR at the main gate ( or you can pass by another remote entrance on top of the hill, near the open park to get in for free)
Taxi from Durbar square to the Pashupatinath costs around 200 – 300 NPR .

From Pashupatinath Temple , It is fairly walkable to another World Heritage Site , the Boudhanath Stupa , which will take you around 30-40 minutes. ( Get a direction from google map ) . Nonetheless , it will be a leisurely walk around downtown Kathmandu , and you will also pass by some commercial districts. Try some local snacks along the way. =) Ideally, you will reach Boudhanath Stupa around 4 pm.

Getting a Nepal Visa On Arrival (VOA) in Kathmandu is easy; Probably the most lenient entry I’ve been to so far. Almost all nationalities, Filipinos included, can avail the Visa On Arrival in Kathmandu Airport.
What to Bring ( As of April 2014):
1. One Passport Sized ID Picture , with white background (or you can avail of the services at the airport but its expensive.)
2. A Photocopy of passport containing Details.
3. Filled up VOA Form, available at the Arrival Area
4. Tourist Visa Fee : (All visas are multiple entry. Nepal Immigration prefers to accept US dollars for the visa fee payment.)

—30 days, 40usd
—90 days, 100usd.

For whatever reason, the Intl. Airport in Kathmandu was very relaxed and tolerant on arriving guest. When I arrived , my backpack did went through the x-ray machine, but as i’ve observed, the officer did not even bother to check the x-ray monitor. Not Good !
Tribhuvan International airport (Kathmandu)My flight from Delhi to Kathmandu . 2.5 hours
Prepaid Airport Taxi is the best option to take you to the city center, for 750 NPR ( 8 usd ) . It would be ideal if you find a fellow tourist to share taxi with. After all, almost everyone would probably head to Thamel , which is the known tourists’ area at Kathmandu City Center. As I’ve read, Public Transpo can be a bit unpredictable in Nepal, since the supply and cost of Fuel is also unstable . The time I visited, there are no public buses that can take you out of the airport directly to the city center. Airport to Thamel is around 45 minutes. Roads are tight and dusty everywhere in Kathmandu, and seldom do you find an Air-conditioned Taxi, so prepare for that.
Where I Stayed :
Stayed at Happily Ever After Hostel at Thamel Marg, and you might have to get some directions from Google , as the roads in Thamel are like spider webs ! Its when hopping in a fix priced prepaid airport taxi comes in good use.
An overnight stay with Happily Ever After Hostel only cost me around 4.5 USD with breakfast. Expect to share room with 10 people. But Beds were decent and comfortable. Dorms are not Air-conditioned, but it was Spring the time I visited Nepal so the weather is soothing and comfortably cool ( around 18 degrees C at daytime).
The Hostel Has a nice roofdeck , Crowd is more of yuppies and mountain climbers. No Kids allowed.

Nepal is relatively cheap to explore . Usual Food and Accommodation are cheap. Just to give you a picture , 1 USD is around 100 NPR (Nepalese Rupee). With an appetite like mine, I say that 5-7 USD /day food allowance is enough. Bottled Water is also cheap in Nepal (30 NPR/ 0.30 usd per liter), as the country is abundant with fresh spring water. Small convenient stores are all around, just like Sari Sari Stores in the Philippines.
A usual full vegetarian meal ( they call it “Daal Bhat “) will cost you 160 NPR , with unlimited refill of Side dishes and Rice on most places !. So thats just around 1.5 usd for a heavy lunch.

Seedless Grapes are cheap in Nepal, just around 200 NPR per kilo . Its fun munching on this while walking around the city. I just bought a bottle of cold water to wash the grapes, and soaked them a bit to chill.

This is the famous cheap Rhum in Nepal , costs only around 60 NPR ( less than 1 USD ) But in some stores, they sell it at 80 NPR on tourists. This rhum is 28% alcohol but surprisingly the taste is quite nice ( compared to Tanduay ) . Unicorn Rhum has a bit of mild Ginseng Taste to it.

Beer is not so cheap in Nepal as compared the the Philippines. A Grande (750 ML ) is around 200 NPR ( 2 usd )

Delhi was my last stop when I visited India , and as expected, my budget for this backpacking leg was expectedly depleting. I came from Agra, and food , accommodation and fare were a bit pricey there, not to mention the entrances. Given that, I tried to find cheap options for my 3 nights stay in Delhi. Here are some highlights. Was the savings worth the hassle ? Lets find out. =)
Agra to Delhi is around 5 hours train ride , given the short distance, i opt to get the cheapest train seat class ( The sleeper’s class ) for 250 INR ( 4 usd ). It was difficult to personally get tickets at the station, but fortunately, A couchsurfing friend of mine booked my tickets online, which was a huge help ! The ticket booth in Agra was full packed, because it was Friday. and it would be close to impossible for me to get tickets on my own.
Waiting Area at Agra Train Station
The Cheap Train Ride
The train to Delhi arrived 4 hours late, And whats even more hassle is that I actually hopped on the wrong train! Though still heading its way to Delhi , but the train will stop at a southern station. I was a bit scared because the train officer might just shove me off the train at the middle of nowhere . But soon I found out that the officers do not check tickets at the sleeper’s class. Hooray for me!
It was a relief to find Fran and Greg at the sleeper’s class , they were also unsure if they hopped on the right train. haha !How I spent my 5 hours sleeper’s class train ride from Agra to Delhi. Hello Feet !sleeper’s Class Trainwalking on some overpass in India train station can be fatal . haha!A picture of the cheap sleeper’s class train ride,. worth 255 INR ( 4 usd )
For Hassle free bookings, ask the hotel receptionist to book your tickets. Better seats at 600 + INR (10 + usd) will be offered to you, nonetheless. And it comes with food water and snacks.
Metro Train
Getting around Delhi is actually easy and inexpensive, thanks to the efficient metro Train embracing all corners of the city.

Here are the Iconic spots in delhi that I’ve Visited , without spending much on entrances.
The Ashkadram Hindu Temple. Built during 1990’s , and is probably one of the most intricately made temples I’ve been to. Highly recommended to Visit . This place also has a great vegetarian food court !
Location : 10 minutes walk from Ashkadram Station.
Ideal Time to Visit : Afternoon . allot 3 – 4 hours for the shows. 9:30 am – 7:30 pm , Tuesday to Sunday . (monday closed )
Entrance : Getting in is free of charge , since it is a place for worship! But the show ( Religious Hindu Movie) and other activities require a minimum fee of around 130 INR ( 2.5 USD ).
Ashkadram Temple . entrance is Free. but picture taking is not allowed at the temple grounds.
Lotus Temple : Place for Balai Worship .
Location : around 10 minutes walk from Kalkaji Mandir Train Station. The temple can immediately be seen from the train.
Time to visit : 9:30 am – 5:30 pm , Tuesday to Sunday . (monday closed )

BaLai Temple ( more known as the Lotus Temple) in Delhi. Contrary to the usual notion, This is not a hindu or Buddhist Temple . This is a Church of Balai , a congregation where all other religions are welcome and encouraged to worship under on roof, promoting unity and acceptance between people of different backgrounds.
Iskcon Hindu Temple : One of the most Iconic Hindu Temple in Delhi . Here you will meet a lot of westerners do volunteering works in India.

Here are some snap shots I got While roaming around the streets of Delhi.

When In Delhi , food allowance of 400 INR/ day (around 7-8 usd) is actually enough if you are on a tight budget, as there are cheap sandwiches and vegetarian set meals (Thali) which is only around 60 – 80 INR ( 1 USD ) . But seriously, you wouldn’t want to deprive yourself all the time, right? Set Aside a better allowance for food and enjoy authentic Indian Cuisine. Being the capital, Delhi is heaven for Indian food trippers , where you can find all cuisines from north to south of India.. Check out my Restaurant Recommendations at this post …

Food is fairly cheap in India, as compared to other Cities Ive visited , including Metro Manila. For the tight budgeted , food allowance of 400 INR/day ( 7-8 USD ) is enough , but will most likely limit you with basic and street food. Below are most of the affordable restaurants I’ve tried, with its corresponding price range, to give you an idea how much food costs in Delhi ,( and similarly with other cities in India I ve visited ).
Odiya Hotel near New Delhi Railway Station . Main Bazaar . Price range 80 – 150 INR ( 1-3 usd )

Not the cheapest option, with price ranging at 200 – 300 INR ( 4-5 usd) , but food is really good ! This restaurant is also recommended by migrationology.com as among his fave street food worthy of travel.

Probably the most Significant – recognized Symbol of Indian Architecture is the Taj Mahal , of Agra, Uttar Pradesh State, Central India. The monument was conceived out of the love of the king Shah Jahan for his deceased wife, Mumtaz Mahal . Repeatedly mistaken as a temple or a mosque, Taj Mahal is in fact a Mausoleum, where the remains of Mumtaz Mahal, and the King , are buried , right at the center of the marble building. The Taj Mahal is widely recognized as “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.

Taj Mahal at 7 am, just in time when visitors start coming in.
Taj Mahal is located at the center of Agra city , in fact, the industry of this city is mainly on tourism revolving around the Heritage Complex. Agra is a fairly smaller city, as compared to Kolkata or Delhi. And being a touristic place, be aware of the overpriced touts and souvenir vendors around the perimeter of the complex. Better buy entrance tickets at legitimate agencies , or at the complex itself.
Entry to Taj Requires a ticket of 750 INR ( 13 USD ) , which can be purchased from the three entranceways to the complex , namely , West Gate , South Gate ( near Taj Ganj and Market ) , and the East Gate ( near shilpgram , the more quiet side of Agra where nice hotels are located ). Any Hotel and Guesthouse in Agra can also assist you with this.
Best Time to Visit : Sunrise, at around 7 am. When tourist crowds are minimal. By 9 am, locals came flocking in.
When Entering Taj, do note that food , beverages, pens, cigarettes, lighters , Video recorder and even tripods are forbidden inside the complex. Still cameras and cellphones are allowed after security check.

The Classy 5 star Hotel of The Oberoi Amarvilas Agra is also worth a visit , which is located within the area of Taj Mahal East Gate and Shilpgram. For an extra Budget, it would be nice to cool down at this hotel for coffee or tea, right after visiting Taj complex.

Other than these two monuments, and the Classy Amarvilla 5 star Hotel, theres nothing else to See in Agra City itself. I actually find the restaurants there very limited and overpriced . And traveling by rickshaw is total rip off. A Two nights stay at this city will suffice.
Where I stayed :
Friends Paying Guesthouse , 10 minutes walk to Taj Mahal East Gate , the quiet side of Agra. Rooms are at around 10 usd for two people . This is already a good deal considering the location of the guesthouse , which is just minutes away from the Taj.
Landmark ( ShilpGram complex , where tickets to Taj Mahal East Gate are sold ) Upon Arriving in Agra, tell your rickshaw to bring you at ShilpGram / Taj Mahal East Gate, and walk to the guesthouse with google map. it is impossible to miss.
Getting To Agra :
5 hours Train From Delhi , or 4 hours Train from Jaipur . ( Agra somewhere almost halfway between the two. ) AC Train Ticket at around 700 INR ( 12 usd ) via the hotel or agency , or cheap sleeper’s ticket at 255 INR (4 usd) via online , which is more difficult to secure.
I do not recommend getting on a day trip bus as it will take much of your time.
Jaipur , is probably the best city I’ve visited during my 15 days stay in India. Although described by the lonely planet as “diesel soaked streets “, I actually found Jaipur more safe and in order, as compared to other cities i’ve visited. Maybe its because I found a nice accommodation tucked in a less crowdy part of city, which is also not too far from the center (which I will discuss on my next post). In addition, I find the public buses of Jaipur easy to navigate from one heritage site to another. Jaipur has no metro subway station by the way.
Jaipur is the Capital of Rajasthan, a desert state at the west side of India, bordering Pakistan . Lahore Pakistan can in fact be reached from Rajasthan by Bus. Being a Desert State, the landscape is undeniably different as the hue of the city turns sunny, sandy and yellow pinkish.
Once being the center of Mughal Rule by the Royal Bloods during the 17th and 18th century, Jaipur itself is rich in old and iconic Indian Architecture and well preserved Heritage Sites .
This city should not be missed when visiting India. Spend at least 2 nights. Jaipur is around 4-5 hours train ride from Agra.
Here are some of the best preserved sites worthy of Visit .

Its no secret that a lot of people, including me, factor in “the need for VISA” whenever we choose which country to visit next. Airline tickets to some favourite destinations may be cheap if booked on promo, but still , we think twice , because of the VISA Requirements , which is an added expense and is very taxing to secure, and especially for me, living hours flight away from the capital region where all the foreign embassies are. But fortunately , some particular dream destinations of mine offer Visa on Arrival . India and Nepal were among the top of my list. Back when I was planning my trip India , It was such a relief to know that we Filipinos need not go through the Visa approval process with the Indian Embassy in Manila, since we are granted to enter India via “Tourist VISA on ARRIVAL” on certain International airports. Kolkata included, which is probably the cheapest flight route option to enter India, with Airasia Promo. Other countries are Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar. (as of 2011) . From April 15, 2014 it was extended to include South Korea ( GOINDIA.ABOUT.COM) . The visas are issued at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata ; and from August 15, 2013, Kochi, Trivandrum, Hyderabad and Bangalore.Maximum validity of a tourist VOA is 30 days. A VOA is strictly for tourism purposes and is not applicable for other types of visa. What I brought with me :
Passport with 6-month validity
2 passport size photographs white background (They took only 1 photo.)
Photocopy of passport
Hotel booking, even for just the first night. (the TVOA form requires an Address/contact in India)
Return ticket or Exit ticket to Nepal in my case
Bank certificates , credit card statement for the recent two months , and related documents to prove the availability of funds sufficient for the duration of stay in India.
60 USD TVOA Fee , or in the case of Kolkata Airport , they asked me for 3,600 Indian Rupees . Good thing I already changed some of my dollars to INR when I was still in KL.
UPDATE : As of January 2015, securing Visa on Arrival to India now requires online application , for at least 4 days prior to travel . Documentary requirements given above are still applicable. Check out this link to start the application process . https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html
my tourist VOA Stamp. If you get your visa at the Embassy in your city, you will probably get the Sticker Version of the Visa
Arrived at around 12 MN in Kolkata, and it took me an hour to wait at the immigration office for the TVOA . The indian officers that time were quite relaxed, there were only two of us getting the TVOA. The other two were indonesians. Of all the documents I brought, they only took One picture, the payment, and photocopied my passport ( they did not accept the Photocopies I brought with me). I just filled up the form they provided, and they did not even bother to check my e ticket, hotel booking , and funds documents etc. The officers were probably tired at that hour. But still, I recommend you bring all those documents, just in case. KEEP the 3,600 INR VISA Receipt! Getting the TVOA in Kolkata was surprisingly easy for me. It was even more difficult to get through Philippine Immigration at some point. The Immigration officers we have are sometimes OA .
at Kolkata Airport
Getting out of the Airport to Kolkata City Center, Since I arrived pass midnight, I opt to spend the night at the airport, which was recommended by some forums. It would be difficult to commute at that hour, and doing that also saved my One night hotel expense. So I just had find a corner in that huge, super cold airport, spread my jacket and lay on the floor. There were not much people sleeping at the airport, as compared to my SG or KL experience. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport ( Kolkata Airport ) is modern and relatively new, the terminal two where we landed started operating 2012. It was nice and all, but the Toilet bowl was , uhm…. skidmarked ! which was a welcoming sight for me in India. This sight occured many times in almost all cities Ive been. hahaha. But carry lang =) around 6 am , I checked on the exit to find the local bus. but apparently, Buses start at 8 am… So I opt to get an airport taxi instead for 150 INR (2.5 USD) to take me to the nearest train station, which was DumDum Metro Train , around 10-15 minutes crazy overspeeding ride crossing highways and cows and goats are everywhere lounging at the middle of the road. My First taste of Indian RUSH ! haha At Dumdum , It was also tricky to find the right METRO STATION to the City , as this train station is interconnected to the rest of the provinces. Do not go up the first train station building, as this is the inter city railway routes. Ask the locals to lead you to the METRO STATION , which is just a few walks away . From there, I had my first Non Air , Full packed , Indian Train Ride to the City center. And my Indian backpacking experience went on …. =)
This is the upper deck of dumdum station, which holds the inter city routes. Dont ride here… go down the stairs , to the metro station belowdumdum inter provinces train junctiontypical view at kolkata. taxi will probably drop you at this place near under the railway.peeing station for men .
Thought of sharing with you what nitty gritty things I usually bring with me when I travel. Just hand carry , Ive never done “checked in luggage” so far, since I started traveling solo. Travel light, travel smart lang ang style !
Here are my stuff =)
My backpack . just around 45 L , with a metal back support. inside this, I have a small sling bag , for my camera , notebook, and other stuff i carry out everyday. As much as possible, both my hands are free of anything when i travel =) i hate carrying more than one bag on long distances.Sleeved Shirts for cold destinations. Plain colors are usually better on picture when traveling, the printed ones are just to obvious when you have used repeatedly. hihi =) Also , I only bring cheap ones by the way (some, second hands), because there are times that i leave behind used clothes to give space for some stuff i bought along the way. Always check on the current season of your destination, to know what type of clothes to bring. The time I went to Nepal, it was Spring of 2014, sleeved clothes were a big help. and Since it was cool, I never sweat a lot, so its ok to use clothes several times. No time for arte arte.convertible pants to shorts. very ideal to bring, because personally, i only carry clothes good for 10-12 days , for a month journey. Usually, i just wash the light ones along the way, or just donate or leave them behind, to free up some space for souvenir shirts =)Rolled underwear, placed inside a zipped fabric pouch, which also serves as my pillow. I don’t carry a neck pillow anymore since it uses up a lot of my bag.quick dry gym towel 12″ x 24″ , and a small quick dry face towel. But i rarely use the gym towel, the small one is already enough for meMy passport, a small pouch for documents , and a tiny pen. Always carry a pen when traveling. More often, you have to fill up some forms for international airports. Also, I carry with me a small notebook for expense tracking, and also just for taking notes of foreign sounding name of things I encounter. Another thing, it is recommended to keep a few photocopies of your passport. Leave one on your big bag, one on your handcarry sling , and also if you have companions, give one copy to them, just for safety.padlocks always come handy for backpackers. usually dorms have lockers but you have to rent a lockset if you do not have one. The yellow triangles are folded plastic bag , just in case i need some.Mini Sewing Kit. Though i never used this so far. But the pins and mini scissor has been a help.My Toiletry pouch. just around 7″x7″. I usually carry toiletries in sachets (shampoos, deo) so it lessens my load as i consume it. A small bottle of Sunblock spf 50. a sachet of insect repellant. etc Wet tissues are always refreshing, especially when visiting hot humid areas.Anti microbial socks ( odorless) which can be used more than once.mini tripod. monopod. The big tripods are not allowed for airline hand. When I backpack, I never purchase check in luggage, to save on ticket cost. 1 backpack is just enough with a month journey for me. My Monopod got stolen by the way, when I was in Agra. =(medicine pouch. tummy aches, irritable bowel , Vitamins, and nasal allergy spray.invest in a good compact universal adaptorAs a solo backpacker, I really make an effort to do research before hand. I also study the locations of the sites I want to visit, and If it is walkable from a certain train station or a famous landmark accessible by cheap public transpo. Taxi is always my last option. =) As seen in this photo , I print out walking maps from maps.google.com , which is really helpful, and also easier for locals you ask along the way to assist with directions. Lucky if you get to have a real city map for free. But usually, google maps are already OK. Google Maps application for android would be more ideal , if you have data plan with you when in travel. Also as shown, I print out online tickets , and at the back of it, I print the hostel booking i have in that area of destination, to save up paper.
So far, these are my usual travel essentials , which could fit into a 45 L carry on backpack , good for a month journey . Traveling light has always been my priority, and I do not bring laptop, my wifi ready smartphone is already enough. I also do not bring a professional’s DSLR, just one high res. Digital Camera.
Do you have other travel essentials in mind? Feel free to add up some items you carry , that are not on my list. Your thoughts are welcome =)

The City of Jaipur gave to me probably the best Indian travel experience by far , with its rich history of Mughal kingdoms, Royalties and Maharajas, the well preserved Mughal/Indian Architecture , a lot of street food, kebabs, shawarmas , and best affordable accommodations.
Here are some preview shots of my Jaipur experience.

Chaotic? Well, yes. But it is the busy streets, the loudest horns and crowded markets that makes this colonial city Incredibly India, as it is. I may not have seen much of historic Mughal heritage sites in this place , but there is already so much going on in every corner , that makes Kolkata , interesting.
More shots to follow.

Probably one of the best time I had in Seoul was the chillax “No Particular Go See” day. We woke up a bit late and just spent the morning in our backpackers’ lounge to chit chat with other guests. In the afternoon, we went strolling on Seoul’s university belt near Hongdae , which also has a lot of bookstores, quaint shops and boutiques. The afternoon ended up into a Cafe Hopping experience.
Koreans are quite fancy with their Coffee and pastries . Interiors are fun, tastefully embellished and usually interactive , as there are corners and boards where you can post your sketches and thoughts or anything that comes in mind to leave something by.
Here are some of the quirky Cafe’s we’ve visited in Hongdae , and all over Seoul .
Coffee Prince , Hongdae – where the Kpop TV Series was shot , famous to Filipinos and other Asians. A bit pricey around 4.5 USD per cup, but its worth the money for Yoon Eun-hye fan like me. haha . Coffee was so-so. Cheescake was great. Ambiance was awesome !
Cats Living Here Cafe, just a stone throw away from Hello Kitty Cafe . The whole loft is a play pen for cats and is heaven for Cat lovers . This place is actually a foster home for cats, and customers can also bring with them their loves to play and socialize with other cats, which is cool ! Truly, the korean owner is doing this out of passion =) Entrance fee to the loft is 8000 won (around 7 USD , and that includes a fix ). My friends were not into cats so they had to leave me here for an hour while they go shop hopping.
Baus Haus Dog Cafe , near Hapjeong Station . This time a heaven for Dog lovers ! This place is a foster home, and is also day care center for dogs when people go on vacation.
Here are some Postcards of places visited and experiences encountered personally by me.
I am personally not much of a writer , nor a professional photographer, but these compilation of shots are my treasure and I shall let them speak for the beauty I came across through travelling.
Probably the largest share of expense during my travel to Seoul went to satisfy my tastebuds and fill my tummy. Personally , I believe that it’s ok to spend a little extra on food; After all, its not like every month, you are in Seoul to enjoy real authentic Korean cooking.
Trip to Seoul , October 23 to November 3, 2012 .

Growing up, I have always been interested with world history and different ways of culture. I always had this uptight aspiration to go to places outside my familiar land. And as soon as I began to work and earn right, I immediately got myself a passport , and started to plot my dream of experiencing the richness of our world , one country at a time. I just started actually.
What’s good with Travelling?
Travelling is more than just about leisure. Personally, I take this as a vessel to improve the way I see things and on how I relate to other people of different backgrounds. Travelling improves both verbal and non verbal communication skills.
Self Improvement
Travelling adds up to your self worth and confidence. My stories and personal experiences while travelling, somehow made me, a more interesting person in a way.
Strolling around Melacca Town Square with my backpack.
A sense of Freedom
I grew up as a dependent person who never made my own decision . Traveling, living abroad on my own, exposed me to different societies and different circumstances requiring me to make important decisions. It developed in me somehow, freedom.
Present your Country
You enjoy sharing with fellow travellers your beautiful experiences from the countries you have visited. And of course, in travel , you get the chance to boast your own nation and culture , what makes your people special and worthy to become your fellow travellers’ next destination.
New Ideas
Travelling for me is a good way to get ideas for various interesting day to day matters; Personally, I always make an effort to visit a public market of the city I am visiting, preferably in the morning , to experience how a foreign community start up their day. Also, Public markets are where you can find exquisite local products, see different ways of preparing food , and also , on how they design spaces with respect to their climate.
A sweet lady selling local juices in downtown Vientiane.
The sense of Growing
As much as it may sound cheesy, but with each destination, you grow. You learn the best ways to pack, meet new people of different nationalities and make lasting friendship, get around on cities with rules and practices different from your home country, and you learn to survive.
Travelling Makes History Come Alive
Ever since a child, I have always been fascinated with history, architecture and the ancient way of living. I took up BS Architecture in college, and I best enjoyed those days when we are asked to draw the significant architectures of various nations. Modesty aside, I even got the highest score for a certain Visual Presentation of Indochina Architecture; A sketch of Angkor Wat included.
Recalling last August 2013 when I was about to enter the actual grounds of Angkor Wat minutes after sunrise… that feeling was priceless !!!!
