Cheers To A New Decade

Grateful that I’ve made it this far.

Cheers to more aspirations to fulfill, and making sure our bucketlist of new things to dream about remains filled for a long, long time.

Now is the time to celebrate and remember to have fun.

Cheers to this new milestone in our lives! This is our moment to go further out of our zones and fully live our authentic selves wholeheartedly.

Even if it’s a little harder now to tie our own shoelaces in the morning kay medyo naga sakit-sakit na ang tuhod, at least it reminds us that we are still here.

Laban ra!

Titled Exquisite: Refining Modern Lifestyles in Mindanao, the event gathered Vista Land executives, employees, and business partners for an immersive presentation of culture and communities that embody the evolving achievements and aspirations of the Filipino way of life.

Hosted by the reigning Hiyas ng Pilipinas and Miss Tourism World Philippines, Marela Juaman, whose poised and polished presence guided the proceedings of the afternoon, the occasion opened with an outstanding performance by Step One Dance Company. Their interpretive interlude also echoed themes of movement and Mindanaoan cultural motifs, mirroring the Vista Land mission of nurturing neighborhoods that resonate with the distinct character and contemporary design of the region. Complementing the residential offerings was a presentation from Strategic Commercial Assets Group, offering a glimpse into upcoming commercial opportunities across Mindanao.

Exquisite highlighted Camella Courtyard, Andaluz Villas, and Altaria by Crown Asia, reflecting the diversity of the region while anticipating the demand for elevated and enriching lifestyles. With its strategic positioning across emerging business districts in Mindanao, Vista Land crosses the threshold of this real estate frontier, delivering refined, resilient, and regionally attuned communities for pioneering professionals, growing families, and Overseas Filipinos.

In his keynote address, Engr. Snippets from Mayhem Singapura

Still stuck in my post-concert blues! It’s been days since the opening night of Mayhem Singapura, and I am still at high that I finally experienced Lady Gaga, live!

MAYHEM SINGAPURA 5.18.2025

The pre-game. Met some fellow little monsters in SG. Shout out, Dan Dale! 🙂 We went to Singapore National Stadium around 4PM. It was way too early for the 8 pm show, but a time well-spent to see and mingle with fellow monsters who flew to SG from as far as China and Australia. The pre-show vibe was all fun and costume-quirky. I low-key regret not wearing one.

Stadium Security was strict. I brought with me a small bagfor essentials and a clear water bottle. It’s good to know that water is refillable inside the stadium for free. Snacks and light meals at the booths rage from 5 to 14 SGD.

As per my seat, I purchased a CAT1,PA6, which is relatively close to the stage (approx 25 to 30m away). This is already a good seat, considering the 50,000 seating capacity of the venue. I purchased my ticket straight from ticketmaster.sg website. No agents fee or mark up whatsoever. Everything was DIY.

The best stage design inspired by  the Phantom of the Opera. Huge stage prod, typical of Lady Gaga extravagance.
The “Mayhem” show is a theatrical experience that brings Lady Gaga’s new album “Mayhem” to life. Killer choreography, a spectacular stage setup with multiple props and costume changes, and a night of singing, dancing, and fun, elevating the traditional concert format.
Mayhem show is an artistic masterpiece. This photo was taken when LG performed ‘Paparazzi’
Act 4. Best part of the show, IMO.
Lady Gaga in her raw form, just being her undecorated self, with her piano and a voice full of love.
The  world stood still when Lady Gaga sang ‘Shallow’.
‘Bad Romance’ as the finale number. The show lasted 2 hrs.
Full house 50,000 pax. And I am proud to be part of this assembly
MRT Station after the show.
On Full packed

Still on high whenever I recall moments from the Mayhem tour in Singapore, and seeing Lady Gaga  perform and actually connect with us, the audience. At some point, I stopped recording and just enjoyed her music and presence. Gaga has, and will always have a place in my heart.

Paws up, little monsters. 🖤❤👑🕶

CEBU PACIFIC INTRODUCES NEW ADD-ON FEATURE FOR FLEXIBLE TICKET REBOOKING

Cebu Pacific Air introduces CEB Flexi—a flight “add-on” feature that gives us travelers the flexibility to rebook flights up to two times, and until (2) hours before departure, for a minimal fee.

Uncertainties knock on unexpected days. Worst ones are those that result to moving the trip to a later date, and pay rebooking fees for the changes. The CEB Flexi works as a buffer for such scenario. Once CEB Flexi is availed, it would be easier now to rebook the affected ticket to another convenient date, hassle-free!  Purely optional, but highly recommended for its practical benefits. This facility is basically 60% cheaper compared to current rebooking fees, and passengers only have to pay the difference in fare (if applicable).

CEB Flexi “add on” is priced at PHP499 for domestic flights, PHP799 for international short haul flights, and PHP1,099 for international long-haul flights. Once availed, this minimal fee shall be added to your ticket upon purchase.

CEB Flexi can be availed thru online bookings starting October 22, 2019. It shall be part of the “add on” features together with the check-in baggage options, in-flight meals and travel insurance interface. www.cebupacificair.com

This option is only available via CEB App and CEB website booking.

CEB INTRODUCES CHARLIE THE CHARMING TRAVEL ASSISTANT

Cebu Pacific Air is further enhancing its online assistance facility with their cute virtual travel auxiliary, CHARLIE. Reachable via Facebook Messenger and on www.cebupacificair.com, Charlie can retrieve your existing itinerary, check you in online, provide digital boarding pass and address basic booking or seat sale questions.

It’s no secret that Taiwan has one of the world’s best street-food scenery. The culinary philosophy in Taiwan is simple. ‘Eat often and eat well. Taiwanese food is actually a popular thing in the streets of New York (USA) since 2009. Taiwanese food continuously expands its influence to neighbouring countries and beyond. That being said, Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade is bringing to the Philippines a glimpse of their food industry on the upcoming #TaiwanExpo2019. The Expo shall be held here in Davao City! Taiwan-based brands for food and beverages will be showcasing their products and business opportunities.

Advanced Selfie:How To Take Creative Self Portraits During Solo Travel

When traveling solo, taking good photos with yourself in it is probably one of the biggest challenges to deal with. Excluding those naturally photogenic people without any bad angle, taking selfies with a cam phone often produce awkward compositions. Your face may be too near the camera, which is not flattering at all. Using a selfie stick may solve this, but it does limit your creative poses and movement. Timers on the other hand, take a lot of effort. I myself have been struggling with these, until I was introduced to the Advanced Selfie Technique.

Handheld selfie. Oh di ba am’pangit? mukhang undin.

What is Advanced Selfie?

Advanced Selfie is coined by Sorelle Amore, a popular British social media influencer. The technique is shooting creative selfies from a digital camera that is remotely connected and fully controllable with your handheld mobile phone. No help, no production team—completely solo.

I was introduced to the art of taking better self portraits by my friend Kareen Lucero, who is also a travel enthusiast. Then on, selfies from my recent solo travel have improved greatly.

With a camera that is remotely controlled by your mobile phone, you get to see your background and angles, thus make corrections and improvements on the spot. It’s something that a timed camera cannot provide easily.

The Tools Needed to do it:

1.) Digital Camera – Wifi Connect-Capable. I use a Sony Mirrorless Camera that I can remotely control with my smartphone.  Most recent cameras of any brand that bought 5 years ago (or maybe earlier) have this feature already. Ask your camera seller to verify.

2.) A Smartphone. I’m using an Android operated – Oppo Phone.

3.) Imaging Edge Mobile App installed on my android mobile phone. Imaging Edge is provided by Sony, which is  downloadable via Play store. There are other respective ‘Cam to Phone’ connectivity app for Canon and etc. Just ask your camera seller or google it.  After installing the app on the phone, you must remotely connect the phone and the camera via its wifi feature. The phone gives instructions on this. For further assistance on the app, click here. Installation videos are also available on youtube. Just search Image Edge to Sony Camera.

4.) A Handy Tripod for the camera. I use a flexible octopus tripod bought from lazada.

5.) Practice,practice,practice!

The Image Edge App as shown. This app is for Sony “Cam to Android Phone” connection. There are also apps for other cam brands that can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Apple Phones, I did not research. Probably meron din.

The Phone, via the Image Edge App, lets you view whatever the camera sees.

My Octopus Tripod. This beauty was first introduced to me by my friend Ian Garcia. The tripod is flexible. You can actually tie it on railings or wherever safe.

Sample photos and the advantages explained:

  • Find Better timing. Crowd and passerby are always a struggle. With a remotely controlled camera, you can easily take a shot when the background is clear, as seen from your mobile phone. This is probably the best advantage that a timed camera alone cannot provide.

  • Find better facial angle. Oh di ba, nagmamaganda?

  • Create Dynamic Poses. You can play different movements and framings to level up your composition. This is definitely impossible to do when using a selfie stick. Another advantageous feature of the Image Edge App is that also has a timer option that can delay the shot on your camera.

  • Play on Distance. Wide frame or close ups, pwede! This feature is camera dependent though. My Sony allows 10-15 meters distance. But I believe most cameras do. baka nga better pa.

No help, no production team—completely solo.

Possible Cons:

  • Since you’ll be placing your camera at a distance, always keep an eye on it for snatchers and kawatans.
  • Hiding your handheld mobile phone is a challenge for beginners. But this can easily be solved. You’ll probably develop your own technique din.

So basically, that’s it! Easy-breezy, right? Kaya nyo din yan. Practice lang. I myself, beginner’s level pa din in terms of creativity. There will always be room for improvements and more inspirations to absorb.

Boracay Quickie Trip : What’s in my Backpack Challenge

Hello, mga bes. Yes, I feel super rejuvenated, alive and fresh from my recent trip to Boracay. Quickie trip lang, 3 days. Di ako excited nun. Di nga ako masyadong nakapaghanda. Before the trip, I just had my hair highlighted with Sun-kissed Brown Balayage, courtesy of the Master Colourist himself, Buddy Congson of Hairs and Nails Salon. May I promote pa noh? Ganun tlga. #LoveLove

Moving forward, I thought of sharing with you guys how I prepared and packed my things for this trip. We all have our own styles of  loading our bags based on the purpose of the travel. Me personally, kahit anong occasion pa yan, I like my things light, organised and minimal, bringing only the necessary. I believe naman na pag may kulang, we can always buy them upon arrival (unless mamundok ka, then Kbye). As much as possible, I don’t baggage check in na. I don’t mind hand carrying my things naman, so that i can get off the plane swiftly and leave the airport agad. I don’t have to wait na for my bag sa carousel and all. Para sa mga nagtatanong, I use a Cabin Zero 44L Backpack. It’s a European brand na super lightweight material with huge storage capacity, parang maleta na ang peg. Hindi ito paid advertisement ha? Wag kayong echosera. I just like how this bag serves its purpose. Although wala masyadong compartments. It would be better if we also use smaller pouches to segregate and organise things.  IMG20170426173107Sadly for this trip, airline crew wanted me to check in my baggage because of the go pro stick. Weird nga eh. I had many trips na before and selfie sticks are allowed naman for hand carry. But Kebs na; life’s to short to question airline protocol.  Anyways, let us proceed with the dissection. Here is what’s inside my backpack:IMG20170426173337( from lower right, clockwise):

  1. Pouch 1 for clothes
  2. Pouch 2 for more clothes
  3. Pouch for shoes and slippers
  4. Pouch for Swimwear
  5. Pouch Toiletry/Skin care/gadgets
  6. Camera. Go Pro tayo kasi beach (On top of my backpack)
  7. A smaller day bag. Though it would have been better kung ung waterproof type nalang, kasi beach eh. Next time.

—–oo——

The Breakdown:

1-2. Pouch for Clothes . Pouch 1 -clothes for super casual, beachwear and the likes, and Pouch 2 -clothes for porma and for dine outs. On other trips, I have separate pouch for semi formal/formal.  Sakto lang ganitong style for quickie, business o leisure trip with friends. For long term backpacking, I have different method of packing. hihi. The Pouches, I bought lang sa 88 store. very helpful to.IMG20170426173419

3. Pouch for slippers and shoes. In Boracay, kasi kailangan porma, I brought one more sandal, not shown sa photo. lol . IMG20170426173534

4. Pouch for Swimwear. Recommend ko talaga mag rash guard sa beach, for skin protection na din. Sa brands, nothing in particular;department store- bought lang.  Meron pa to goggles and ear plugs, di ko na nasali sa pic.IMG20170426173651 Yung rashgard ko, may opening for the thumb to keep the sleeves in place.IMG20170426173708

 5. Pouch for Toiletry/Skin Care/Gadgets  . IMG20170426174028 Toiletries pouch ko sa upper left. Nothing fancy. Toothpaste, conditioner, shampoo in a refillable bottle (less than 100ml). I don’t bring soap nah, body wash lang.Hassle eh. Though when I am at home, I maintain using organic soap from Myskin Origins.

Pouch for Medicine, eyedrops, and my daily fibre supplement.

Gadgets – Just Charger and spare batteries for Go pro.

The white triangle, spare plastic bag, lol, as in silopin from Gmall, pwede na. Always ako meron nito, even in my work bag.

Pouch for Skin Care, lol, dami.  Ito un.

IMG20170426174144Face Mask – The cucumber mask in particular has a soothing and cooling effect to the skin; a perfect night care after a full day fiasco under the sun. I only use mask from The Face Shop; kinasanayan na.

Dermax UV Gel Sunblock for the face. I was advised by my derma to use only gel type water based sun protection, kasi I am prone to break outs. Mejo mahal, kaya for the face lang. I use a different one for the body.

Dermax Hyal C Serum. Serves as my facial moisturizer before bedtime.

Day-long Sunblock Gel from Cetaphil for the neck and body.

Alcohol in a spray type bottle. Very convenient. Refillable pa.

Eye Roll on. lol. Di ko alam bat nadala ko to, I don’t use this often.

Acne Gel Cleanser from VMV.

Lip balm with SPF 15 from Nivea.

My Favourite perfume in a small handy bottle. Walang reason not to smell fresh during travel.

IMG20170426174205This is my sun protection set. I also bring this with me during fieldworks.

So, yes basically that’s it. Haha, maarte ba? Sa skin care lng naman. Kailangan yun. Though I am fully aware that I do not have perfect smooth skin at the moment, it could have been worse if I never took care of it. Sabi nga ni Kris Aquino, oiliness is less to joblessness.

It was a fun 3 days trip to Boracay. Kulang tlga. But yes, we can always go back. Good thing Airasia Ph now offers direct flights from Davao to Caticlan/Kalibo. This means cheaper fare na for us coming from Southern Mindanao, because we do not have to pass by Manila or Cebu anymore.

Quickie weekend trip to Boracay? pwedeng pwede nah! IMG20170426111403_Fotor

During our trip, we were hosted by AZALEA Hotels and Residences Boracay, in Station 2. Azalea Boracay is the only 4 star service apartment-hotel in the island. Good location, furnished kitchen on every suites, commendable services. The hotel even has a heated pool at the roof deck. Panalo! Will upload more blogs re our accommodation soon, for now, you may get in touch with at http://www.azaleaboracay.com/.

Til then. Ciao =)

Florenda Beach Resort : Samal’s Affordable Semi Exclusive

I just came from a well spent – chillax Saturday outing with my Arki group at Florenda Beach Resort, in Samal Island. It was my first time to see Florenda. In fact, I’ve never heard of it until today, and haven’t came across this as well on most Samal Island resort listings. Surprisingly charming yet affordable , I thought of putting it up here for others to see this resort as one good option, among Samal Island’s beaches.

Florenda Resort is a Small scale semi – exclusive venue with just around 10-12 overnight cottages. The resort has opened its doors 4 years ago with just a few cottages and a good beach that does not go super low tide.  Today, the resort  now has an ample sized saltwater pool, fully developed beachfront , duplex type  and Dorm type facility. The resort boasts clear shores perfect for snorkelling. Be sure to use proper swimming footwear for protection.

Banana Beach Resort : Tagum City’s Piece of Paradise

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to join Davao Blogger Society’s visit to Hijo Estates in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, where Banana Beach Resort is located. I’ve heard nice things about this exclusive resort tucked in a quiet corner of Tagum City. My expectations were not failed.

The resort used to be a part of a 2000+ hectares of  banana and coconut plantation, until recently, the family owners saw the land’s potential for Tourism.

What’s unique about this resort community is how well the designers preserved the existing plantation landscape as it is. It was architecture that adapted to the existing contours of the land, and not the other way around, which is very admirable. The resort is actually just a small patch of development situated at the beachfront, surrounded by the existing hectares green filtering all the city noise away. As part of their amenities, the resort reserved hectares of untouched land, for guests to enjoy leisurely canopy walks up the lush forest.

Calm , quiet, exclusive  ! Thats how I see Banana Beach Resort in mind.

Tricks on Getting Up Early

Getting up early in the morning can be quite a challenge , especially if you are not used to it since dawn of time. Count me in for that matter . But just moments ago, I came across this Article on tricking your senses to get up early in the morning, and I actually find every recommendation quite logical and possibly effective.

Quite Right !

Whats Inside My Travel Backpack ?

Thought of sharing with you what nitty gritty things I usually bring with me when I travel. Just hand carry , Ive never done “checked in luggage” so far, since I started traveling solo. Travel light, travel smart lang ang style !

Here are my stuff =)

My backpack . just around 45 L , with a metal back support. inside this, I have a small sling bag , for my camera , notebook, and other stuff i carry out. As much as possible, both hands are free of anything =) i hate carrying more than one bag on long distances.

Sleeved Shirts for cold destinations. Plain colors are usually better on picture when traveling, the printed ones are just to obvious when you have used repeatedly. hihi =) Also , I only bring cheap ones by the way (some, second hands), because there are times that i leave behind used clothes to give space for some stuff i bought along the way. Always check on the current season of your destination, to know what type of clothes to bring. The time I went to Nepal, it was Spring of 2014, sleeved clothes were a big help. and Since it was cool, I never sweat a lot, so its ok to use clothes repeatedly.

convertible pants to shorts. very ideal to bring, because personally, i only carry clothes good for 10-12 days for a month journey. Usually, i just wash the light ones along the way, or just donate or leave them behind, to free up some space for souvenir shirts =)

Rolled underwear, placed inside a sipped fabric pouch, which also serves as my pillow. I don't carry a neck pillow anymore since it uses up a lot of my bag.

My passport, a small pouch for documents , and a tiny pen. Always carry a pen when traveling. More often, you have to fill up some forms for international airports. Also, I carry with my a small notebook for expense tracking, and also just for taking notes of foreign sounding name of food,.

Leave one on your big bag, one on your handcarry sling , and also if you have companions, give one copy to them, just for safety.

padlocks always come handy for backpackers. usually dorms have lockers but you have to rent a lockset if you do not have one.

My Toiletry pouch. just around 7"x7". I usually carry toiletries in sachets (shampoos, deo) so it lessens my load as i consume it. Wet tissues are always refreshing, especially when visiting hot humid areas.

As a solo backpacker, I really make an effort to do research before hand. I also study the locations of the sites I want to visit, and If it walkable from a train station or a famous landmark accessible by cheap public transpo. Taxi is always my last option. =) As seen in this photo , I print outed out walking maps from google, which was really helpful, and also easier for locals to assist you with directions. Lucky if you get to have a real map for free. But usually, google maps area OK. Also as shown, print out my online tickets , and at the back of it, I print the hostel booking i have in that area of destination, to save up paper.

So far, these are my usual travel essentials , which could fit into a 45 L carry on backpack , good for a month journey .  Traveling light has always been my priority, and  I do not  bring laptop, my wifi ready smartphone is already enough. I also do not bring a professional’s DSLR, just one high res. Digital Camera.

Do you have other travel essentials in mind? Feel free to add up some items you carry , that are not on my list. Your thoughts are welcome =)
